COURSE DESCRIPTION
What is the spirit of Bouffon?
Can you hear it? The trickster in you is crying out! Unleash your inner Bouffon in an explosion of fun that turns life's sh*t into gold.
If Clown allows the world to laugh at the ridiculousness of the performer, then Bouffon allows the performer to laugh at the ridiculousness of the world.
How can you infuse that spirit of mockery and mayhem into your contemporary performance and creation?
In this lab, we will seek your personal pleasure to:
Mock
Manipulate
Make Fun
Create Mischief
Confront
Interrogate
Be Grotesque
Be Naughty
Move from Funny to Tragic to Funny Again
And Play with (or Contrast) the Force at Hand.
We ask, “Do you need (or want) a disguise to play in the spirit of bouffon? And if so, what might it be?
Keeping this in mind:
THERE IS NO ACTUAL BOUFFON.
There is only you, your pleasure to play with the audience, and the rewards or consequences of that play.
Where there is frustration, there is energy to be liberated. Where is the love in your frustration and how can that be useful for yourself and your audience?
